News Corporation Hara Software Implementation
Business Challenge:
In preparation for their fourth annual carbon assessment, News Corporation needed technical and carbon management experts to assist with the implementation of a software application to more efficiently manage their global carbon and energy initiatives. News Corporation, as a large, decentralized enterprise with operations throughout the world, faced a number of data collection and staff training challenges when implementing a comprehensive software solution.
Our Approach:
- Facilitated demos with various Enterprise Carbon Management software firms.
- Conducted a pilot implementation of the Hara software application for one of News Corporation’s largest business units.
- Worked closely with Hara’s development team to incorporate necessary enhancements to the application in preparation for implementation of the software across the organization.
- Loaded historical GHG inventory data for all global business units back to News Corporation’s base year, fiscal year 2006.
- Set up over 200 users around the world and trained News Corporation staff on how to utilize the application to enter and review emissions data on a continuous basis.
- Continually enhanced the baseline data quality with better and more efficient data collection procedures to ensure that News Corporation is reporting with the utmost level of data integrity and quality.
Value Created:
ClearCarbon successfully implemented the Hara software application, allowing News Corporation to perform their carbon inventory entirely through web-based data collection. In addition to the data collection, the reports and forecasting capabilities in the application are being harnessed by the energy team leads to perform detailed analysis of their energy usage, energy costs, and CO2 emissions. Through the use of this application, News Corporation will be able to more efficiently and accurately publically report their emissions and track progress towards their aggressive carbon reduction goals.
