Business Challenge:

The Global Forum 2009 offered a one day workshop on business innovation through sustainability. As part of the workshop, a key focus needed to be carbon life cycle assessment.

Project Details:

• ClearCarbon conducted a half day workshop to lead work groups through a high-level life cycle carbon assessment.
• ClearCarbon utilized the life cycle carbon assessment process it has honed through dozens of product analyses.
• ClearCarbon answered emissions questions of the work groups and aided the presentation of the groups back to the full audience of the workshop.
• Participants completed preliminary analyses during the workshop for a renewable energy technology and a mosquito control product.
• The process yielded documentation on relevant lifecycle phases, associated emissions sources, opportunities for reductions, and potential business impacts.

Value Created:

ClearCarbon created a successful life cycle carbon review orientation. Each participant was engaged and left with an appreciation of key analytical steps. The workshop focused on two real products that are both under development and findings from the workshop session are expected to be applied to product development. The workshop is also in the process of being translated to French by a participant for use by European companies in staff training.
