Autodesk Carbon Footprint Review

Autodesk Carbon Footprint Review Visit web site

Business Challenge:

Autodesk, a leading design software provider, has twice measured its own corporate GHG inventory and disclosed its key findings. This year, a new team lead at Autodesk asked ClearCarbon to review their historical corporate GHG inventory, to review their draft FY 2009 inventory for accuracy and completeness, and to make recommendations for improvements in an effort to surpass the expectations of stakeholders, including CDP7, EPA Climate Leaders, Dow Jones Sustainability Index and FTSE4Good.

Our Approach:

  • ClearCarbon began by conducting a scope, boundary, and emissions source review meeting with Autodesk sustainability staff.
  • ClearCarbon then interviewed the individuals primarily responsible for compiling the inventory to gain insight and clarifications on the Autodesk inventory model.
  • ClearCarbon performed a quality check on all calculations used by Autodesk in their GHG inventory.
  • ClearCarbon verified all emission factors used by Autodesk and provided updated emission factors where required.
  • ClearCarbon provided a Findings and Recommendations Report to Autodesk with clear and actionable measures to be taken to improve the quality of the inventory.

Value Created:

While Autodesk had produced a high-quality GHG inventory, ClearCarbon was able to use its expertise to identify areas for improvement. Where questions of scope and boundary arose, ClearCarbon’s experience in working with the CDP and EPA Climate Leaders helped with improving the inventory for reporting purposes. ClearCarbon’s real-time knowledge of the ever-changing landscape of emission factors also allowed Autodesk to improve their GHG inventory to the most recent information.
