Sarah Matheson is a Senior Greenhouse Gas Analyst and brings several years of demonstrated experience working collaboratively to analyze, develop, and implement environmental strategies in the private and public sectors. She has engaged stakeholders in the private sector, federal, state, and local government agencies, and non-profits in environmental programs and environmental sustainability.

Sarah manages Walmart’s supplier innovation work focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from products. Prior to joining Clear Carbon Consulting, Sarah’s experience included in-house sustainability management and consulting experience for a variety of organization types. While consulting, she assisted municipalities and organizations in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and achieve other sustainability goals. In addition, Sarah assisted Brown-Forman to assess, through streamlined life cycle assessments, key product lines such as Fetzer wine, Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Lenox China, and Hartmann Luggage, and to set goals for environmental improvement. Working with federal clients such as the Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and Food and Drug Administration, she contributed to environmental management systems and established boilerplate environmental management system documents for various industries.

Sarah also managed internal sustainability initiatives at the World Bank. These included internal and external programs and projects intended to reduce the World Bank’s footprint. She calculated and managed the greenhouse gas inventory for the World Bank, during which time she helped identify energy efficiency opportunities and carbon offsets to purchase.

Sarah has a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science from James Madison University and a Master’s of Environmental Management from Yale University.

An interesting fact about Sarah

Sarah is an avid hiker and has recently started participating in triathlons. She just finished a 24 hour bike race in Columbia, Maryland to benefit cancer research where she rode 100 miles in a 24-hour period.
