About Us
Michael Chang
Greenhouse Gas Analyst
Experience
Michael Chang is a Greenhouse Gas Analyst. He brings several years of consulting experience to ClearCarbon, providing sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon solutions to clients spanning the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Michael works with stakeholders and team members to develop strategies to maximize energy efficiency, develop carbon inventories and reduction opportunities, and navigate the constantly changing energy policy landscape.
Before joining ClearCarbon, Michael specialized in sustainability solutions in the commercial real estate industry. He worked with owners and operators of research labs, golf courses, senior homes, retail stores, and commercial offices to lower operating costs and reduce carbon emissions, as well as to help reposition their portfolio of assets through EPA’s Energy Star labeling and the USGBC’s LEED certification. During his graduate studies, Michael interned with the Joint US-China Cooperation on Clean Energy (JUCCCE) in Shanghai to help accelerate the adoption and transfer of clean tech and best practices to China. He also consulted with the New York City government on carbon finance opportunities in support of PlaNYC initiatives.
Michael lived in China for three years working in the high-tech manufacturing and clean energy sectors prior to graduate school.
Education
M.I.A. in International Energy Management and Policy, Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs (New York, NY).

An interesting fact about Michael
Michael performed a LEED gap analysis and energy audit on an office building recently featured on “The Office” during the orientation video played in the “Sabre” episode. He wonders why the show would travel over an hour outside of Los Angeles to shoot less than 10 seconds of footage at an ordinary office.
