Christopher Porto
Research Associate
Experience
Christopher Porto contributes to various client projects focused on developing corporate greenhouse gas inventories, product lifecycle assessments, emission reduction strategies, and public disclosure reporting of carbon footprints. Christopher is helping organizations integrate environmental thinking into their corporate strategies so that they can stay abreast of the latest climate and energy policies and take advantage of the opportunities presented in a low-carbon economy.
Christopher earned his undergraduate degree from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech University where he held numerous leadership positions and participated in a number of development programs at the regional, national, and global levels. His successes afforded him the opportunity to study abroad in Japan and South Korea where he met with top executives of major global corporations, visited manufacturing facilities throughout East Asia, and completed course work in international management with a concentration on global sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Christopher broadened his international experience after graduation by returning to Japan where he taught English, advanced his knowledge of the Japanese language, and trained in the martial art of Aikido.
Prior to joining the ClearCarbon team, Christopher conducted extensive research on the business and science of climate change with a focus on such initiatives as the WRI/WBCSD Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project, U.S. EPA’s Climate Leaders Program, and Walmart’s Sustainability Index.

B.S. in Finance with minors in Global Business and Business Leadership, Virginia Tech University, Pamplin College of Business (Blacksburg, VA).
An interesting fact about Christopher
Christopher holds a first-degree black belt in Aikido and loves to travel to different countries around the world, having visited 14 so far with more to come. Being an avid golfer, he worked briefly as a professional caddy during which time he carried the bag of a famous Japanese professional for the UBS Bank Pro-Am Tournament on the Japan Golf Tour.
